Black Horse Miniature Schnauzer Rescue

About Black Horse Miniature Schnauzer Rescue

Our Purpose

BHMSR places unwanted, homeless or abandoned miniature schnauzers into pre-screened homes. Each dog is checked by a veterinarian, given all shots, spayed or neutered, and treated for any illnesses or medical problems that are found. We make a special attempt to rescue dogs from over populated "kill" shelters, and to educate the public and potential adopters about the unique and wonderful personality and characteristics of the miniature schnauzer.

Prior to placement, most of our dogs live in fosterhomes where they are socialized and cared for until they are adopted into a permanent home.

Adoption Policy

BHMSR requires a completed adoption application and home screening. Dogs are only placed for adoption in Northwest Washington state between Whatcom and Pierce Counties (including Island Co.). Prospective adoptive homes must meet adoption criteria and in some cases a "home visit" is required. In all cases, the final placement decisions are based on the suitability of each dog for a particular home. You may print an Adoption Application and Terms of Adoption and or request they be sent to you by email.

While we tell adopters about the behavior we observed, we cannot be sure that we have seen all aspects of the dog's behavior, nor can we be certain that all medical conditions have been diagnosed. We therefore make no guarantees or representations as to the health, fitness, demeanor, or well-being of each dog.

A non-refundable adoption donation to BHMSR helps to defray a portion of the medical care costs related to rescuing these dogs.

The person adopting the dog promises that the dog will not be sold, traded, or disposed of in any way, before informing BHMSR, which shall hold the option of reassuming custody of the dog. BHMSR may examine and make inquiry regarding the dog at any time.
