Details of Shipping
All puppies will be shipped through Delta or United Airlines. The process is safe, simple, and cost effective. The pup first obtains a health certificate from a vet. On the day of travel, he is placed in a well-ventilated airline transport kennel, and received by a special division of the airlines. He is placed on board just minutes prior to departure, and travels in a temperature controlled, pressurized area of the aircraft. (If he loses pressure, so do the passengers!) The pup usually sleeps for most of the flight. (We do not use sedatives. They are unnecessary and dangerous).
Picking up your Puppy
This is the most fun part. Just simply show up at the baggage claim area, and go to the counter. (Don’t worry - your pup won’t come flying down the belt with all the suitcases). Show them your I.D. and they will hand your pup to you.
Many families use this as the surprise introduction to their children or spouses. Have a camera ready!
Other than water, there is nothing special you will need. When you get to a grassy area, let him out for a bathroom break. He won’t run off, and will stick right to your heels. You can bring a collar and leash if you like.
Once the bathroom break is over, you will find it more comfortable to travel with your new pup beside you on the seat. He will most likely go back to sleep by the warmth of your leg, and this is a great first bonding experience.
Cost
Shipping through the airlines is the best way to get your puppy safe and sound. The total cost of transporting your puppy is about $260.00.
Break down of what is included:
Health Certificate acclimation letter (if needed). This saves you money, as it counts for a first vet visit. (In most cases, the first vet visit can run $100 to 150 dollars).
Airline transport kennel. This can be used as a dog house for the first few months or the crate and food containers
are refundable if they are mailed back to us. We will be happy to purchase a crate and supplies of
your choosing if you wanted to pay the difference in our cost of the standard supplies, or accept your personal supplies ahead of
time through the mail (some people like to send a blanket with their scent on it keep the puppy comfortable).
Airfare on the airline that services your region the most cost effectively.
Travel to the airport on the shippers end (a 200 mile round trip).
We will make all arrangements for the flight and delivery to the airport. You are responsible for pick up at your end or other means of transportation.
Another option is to fly into Sea Tac airport and I will meet you there and give you the puppy to take back with you as a carry-on.
This would enable you to supervise and care for your puppy en route. You would have the option of bringing your own crate or having me supply it
and I would still supply the neccessary paperwork and transportation to the airport. The cost of the flight would be deducted from the cost of shipping if you chose to go this route.
We feel like it is very important and much more personal to make travel arrangements via telephone. There is no room for mistakes concerning
travel arrangements. Our # 1 concern is the safety
and well being of the puppy, and then getting him/her to you in a convenient and economical manner. All of
these issues will be discussed via telephone and confirmed in writing.
All puppies will be sent to their new homes with health certificates,
registration papers, written guarantee, feeding and care info, food the puppy has been eating. Please feel free to ask for
special items to be included with your puppy.
