In Memory
of friends lost
As we go through life we meet people, some of them with four feet and some with two, and something about them draws us together and we become friends. Sometimes our meeting is accidental, sometimes it is someone we were seeking out and sometimes they seemed to have found us. But whatever the situation, our paths crossed and we walked down it together for a while.
But as life in this system is, it is temporary, often far too temporary and we are forced to say goodbye to our dear friends much too soon. But we will never
forget those who have fallen asleep in death, so these pages are dedicated to the memories of each of those we remember in love and and affection.
Jerry was a good friend and Brother. He leaves many sad friends and family in his passing. He will not be forgotten and we look
forward to the day when we will see him again in Paradise.
Tis Wana Jamil (Feb 25, 1980 - May 11, 2003) was one woman's childhood dream come true. She was precious friend, trail companion, comforting shoulder; so much more than just a horse.
She was also a little girl's faithful mount and "babysitter" on the trails, keeping her always safe. Jamil leaves an empty space in many of us with her death and will never be forgotten. In her 23 year lifetime, Jamil produced 9 purebred foals
and was the trustworthy mount for countless children and beginning adult riders. On May 11, we were on our way out to collect up the horses for a trail ride and found Jamil standing in the middle of the field with a broken leg. She
was humanely euthanized at 2:30 pm. We were all there to comfort her and she even tried to comfort us.
While we know we will never again meet, we will be reminded of her place in our hearts by the wind in our hair and seeing the color of her coat relected in the autumn leaves, and in the vitality and
life of her last daughter Japhia with whom she graced us in 2002. Goodbye dear friend.
On The Mark (Beyond Light x MHA LunAmagyne) 6-26-2005 Bay colt with a white check mark and near hind sock. We lost this little guy at just 24 hours old...here's what happened:
He was a bit early, not due until mid July and he was born septic due to a uterine infection. The vet said there was nothing we could have done and no way to have known and the fact that she foaled early was due to premature placental detachment from the infection. In fact he tried to be a red bag foal but we were
there and tore thru the placenta and sack and got him out before full detachment and he drown inside. There was no way to know she had an infection and no way to treat it after the fact. To further complicate things the mare's milk reverted back to it's pure colostrum state and when I asked the vet about whether
he has seen this before he had actually seen it this year in some draft mares, most likely due to a fescue hay they were getting (the drafts, not my sister's mare) but the fact that the vet had seen it happen for ANY reason put our mind at ease. We thought we were loosing our minds cuz we had seen the milk be white
before foaling. Now the mare is milking like a cow but it wouldn't have mattered cuz the final complication (like the rest wasn't enough) was that the colt had no suck reflex and would fight any attempt to feed him(bottle or otherwise). He got to where he wouldn't even swallow. So he was put down at exactly 24 hours
old and tho he put up a fight it just wasn't going to be. He was a long awaited foal, in the planning for several years and we are heart sick and exhausted (it's been a long 2 days) but just wanted to share, sometimes the sharing makes it easier.
Black Horse Jordan:We lost Jordan on August 14th, 2005 due to a tragic accident. Our hearts are aching and lonely in
the place where he lived. He is so missed. We love you, Jordan...you will always be in our hearts.
 Jordan was a very
happy, go lucky guy who loved to play, whether it be with other dogs or with his human family and he was known to jump on the
trampoline, climb outdoor play gyms and slide down slides, all to join my daughter in the fun. We have his daughter Aspen but it
will never be the same without him.
Black Horse Jorja Skye: Jorja (Black & White Parti-color). She came with Madison (above) to us from our friends Nan and Roger
in Texas. She is a bit more reserved
than most schnauzers but she likes to sit quietly on my lap, or curl up on my side at
night and loves to try to entice the other kids, especially Jasmine to play. Her favorite game is "stalk thief" in which she will
stalk someone who has something (toy or chewie) that she wants
and she will creep sloooooowwly up to them, ignoring warning growls and wait until the perfect moment to grab the prize and run...
the funniest part is she will do this over and over, most often to the same one, usually Isabelle. Everytime Isabelle finds a new object...
Jorja is right there to "Stalk thief" it away
She is also Liver related (her sire is Liver) and when bred to Micah, she gave us some nice liver, liver parti, black, black parti,
salt & pepper and s/p parti pups. (AKC)
UPDATE** Our lovey, Jorja Skye was taken from us suddenly and unexpectedly on 12/04/07 and we are still reeling from the blow. While grateful to have her daughter Raven, and grandson Jasper it is with a heavy heart I make this addition to my web pages. Jorja was a little bit odd when it comes to Schnauzers as she was not very social with others and even with me she prefered to follow at my heels when outside rather than be pet or scratched. I attribute this to the fatc that she was kennel raised in the 8 months before I got her. But when inside she liked to curl up beside me (or at my feet if I was on the computer). I miss her so, so much... words can just not even express it.
Black Horse Aimee Rae: Aimee (S&P) is the daughter of jasmine and Micah and is just a riot!
If you croon her name to her and
tell her to sing she will howl and and sing and croon right along with you. One of her favorite games to play with her fur-family
is "tag" and she is a speedy little scooter so the others are hard pressed to catch the little Salt & Pepper streak. She is another of our smaller toy-sized kids
so should have some nice toy babies for us in the coming years.
UPDATE** We just lost our little Aimee today due to complications with her first pregnancy. Aimee not only represented the last of Jasmine's line for us but also was the sweetest little self that ever did grace our home. With tears in my eyes, I write this final good bye and hope the hollow echo of her place in our hearts aches a little less with each passing day. Good bye. little "Aim-ess". (AKC)
Black Horse Brit Annie: Brit (White) and Brie are littermates and come to us from Texas. We picked them out at
just a few days old and waited anxiously for them to be old enough to fly home to us. Brittie is a mischievious one, she likes to chew on the things that aren't hers and .
often finds herself in timeout because of it, but I really don't think she cares much, she just finds something new... :) Brit is the 4th of Lindsay's "kids".
Lindsay laid claim to her as soon as she saw her and so who was I to refuse, this really is a "mother-daughter" endeavor after all... (AKC)
***UPDATE: We lost our Brittie after complications related to a C-Section winter of 2009-2010. She developed an granuloma in the scar tissue 10 days post-op and there was nothing the vets could do to fix it. We all miss her, especially her sister, Brie.

Black Horse Simon Sez: Simon (Chocolate) is another sweet boy, altho he is homozygous for the One Color gene so we will only ever get Black, or Chocolate- with or without parti, from him... His parents are both Toy-sized at 8lbs and he is the sire of some of the nicest puppies, according to our clients. He loves playing wrestle with his fur-friends or napping
on my chest and is just enjoying life. Simon also has a "supercoat" and passes that on to some of his babies. (AKC)
BW Cotton: Cotton (White) is a great guy who came to us from friends where he had been a breeding male for
them for the last several years and after keeping some of his daughters, we were given the opportunity to bring him to our home. He is has
adjusted to life outside a kennel and enjoys playing with the group we have. Cotton is a nice size and his build is very square and stocky and so he should re-inforce that wonderful conformation in my lines. Cotton's litter are always very nice, he downsizes several of his puppies and bred to carriers,
he gives us some beautiful B/S too!(AKC)
Black Horse Micah: Micah (Liver Pepper, 11" - 13 lbs) is a great little guy. He came from the same breeder as Madison (above) to us
from Texas.
He is such a playful and happy fellow and altho he remains shy with strangers, he has become less so and so we hope he will continue to become more comfortable with them.
He loves playing fetch with his toys and
has also turned out to be a wonderful sire. He also loves to sleep on my lap and have his ears
and chest scratched and with his in and out dog door and having free run of the large fenced yard his life is pretty complete. He
is smaller than average and is a great cross for both my larger girls as well as with Isabelle for a new line of the
smaller "toy" type minis for us.
Micah is on this page, not because he is passed on, but because we miss him. He is currently living with my friend in Idaho and is having a great time being the only man of the house with his own harem of retiree ladies to lord over. :)
